THE JOEL L. FLEISHMAN YOUNG LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

In the fall of 2026, Jewish for Good is launching the Joel L. Fleishman Young Leadership Program — a  new two-year program to develop a cohort of volunteer leaders.

Through an immersive combination of seminars, intensive institutes, and guided learning, participants build community, talk honestly across differences, and grow as leaders together.

The program honors the lifelong work of Joel L. Fleishman (of blessed memory), whose scholarship and leadership showed how philanthropy can build strong civil society institutions. It carries Fleishman's vision forward by developing principled leaders, connecting them to one another, and turning ideas into real community projects.

This opportunity is geared toward community members roughly 30 to 45, from across the Triangle, whose personal, professional, and communal lives reflect leadership and commitment to the Jewish people and our community, with real potential to grow as Jewish leaders.

We expect to welcome a new cohort every four to five years.

MEET OUR INAUGURAL COHORT

After a thorough selection process, we're thrilled to introduce the community leaders joining this distinguished first cohort.

We look forward to spending the next two years with this incredible group of community members, working collectively to strengthen our vibrant Jewish community for many decades to come.

"It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you at liberty to neglect it."
- Rabbi Tarfon, Pirkei Avot 2:16
