FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Jewish for Good’s Adult Day Program serves individuals with physical or cognitive impairment who require daytime supervision, are in the care of family or other caregivers, and will benefit from structured activities and social interaction.

  • Ability: We are a social, not medical, model. Participants will need to be able to engage with the programmed activities, and with the group.

The needs of the individual, as well as their ability to engage with the program will be factors that are considered during the enrollment process. We want all participants to thrive and to be enriched by the program. Most participants have mild to moderate memory or thinking diagnosis.

Age: There is no minimum age for enrollment, however the program will be designed with a focus on the needs of older adults with memory and/or physical impairment.

Mobility: Participants must be independently mobile or require the use of assistive devices for ambulation. Participants must be able to transfer safely with minimal assistance to be considered for program acceptance.

Continence: Program participants will need to be bowel continent. Mild bladder incontinence may be accommodated, depending on the individual’s ability to toilet or change clothing independently or with minimal assistance.

Nutrition: We cannot accommodate participants who require tube-feeding, or who require medication injections. We can accommodate some special dietary needs; this will be part of the inquiry process.

Medications: We can admit participants who require oral or topical medication during the day. Medications will be stored by the Program Director in a located cabinet. Medications will be administered to each participant and logged per their care plan regimen. We cannot administer IV medications.

Background: Participants do not need to be Jewish to be part of our program! People of all backgrounds are welcome.  JCC membership is not required.

Eligibility criteria are determined by the Adult Day Program. Eligibility decisions will ultimately be made by the Program Director, and will be final. If, during the screening process The Adult Day Program Director, determines that the program is not ideally suited to meet an individual’s needs, we will support the family with advice about alternative care options.

  • Acceptance to the Program is contingent upon completing the enrollment process, the medical report, and the Program’s ability to meet the needs of the applicant.

The enrolment process involves screening by filling out out enrollment form. If eligibility criteria are met, the Program Director will meet with the prospective participant and their family or caregiver to gain more information about the participant, their interests and abilities, care needs and daily routines.

Following the submission of a medical examination report, the Program Director will discuss program enrollment availability and relevant fees with the family or caregiver.

The prospective participant would then be invited to visit The Gindes Center on a tour and/or to attend the Adult Day Program for a half-day, to participate in some activities and meet the staff and fellow participants.

  • The Adult Day Program operates from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday.

Participants will be enrolled for ongoing attendance. Full-time (5 days per week) and part-time options will be available. Please note: half-day enrollment options are not offered.

We encourage participants to attend at least two days a week in order to get the most out of the program and develop relationships with the staff and other participants.

Once enrollment is full and there are no openings on particular days, eligible participants will be placed on a waiting list.

Once a space is available, you will be notified immediately so that your loved one can complete the enrollment process and begin attending the program.

  • 5 days/week: $2,300 monthly
    3 days/week: $1,500 monthly
    2 days/week:  $1,000/monthly

Sliding scale is available while funds last. Enrollment is monthly; drop ins are not available.
