We’ll gather together in person, like challah bakers are doing around the world for this international event!

Learn how to make, braid, and bake an exceptional loaf of challah — and discover the spirit of community contained within each loaf.

This year, as our challah dough rises, we’ll hear from UNC Professor Kelly Alexander about the history of challah in the US.

Plus, in the spirit of the Shabbos Project, this year's Great Big Challah Bake will also kick off a whole weekend of Shabbat-focused events ending in a musical, community Havdalah in the Preminger Family Amphitheater.

This FREE event is made possible by a generous grant from the Shepard Broad Foundation.

We are grateful to our Community Partners:
Beth El Synagogue, Chabad of Durham/Chapel Hill, Jewish Life at Duke, Judea Reform Congregation, Kehillah Synagogue, and Kol Haskalah.
