Summer at Camp Shelanu feels like possibility — wide-open, joy-filled, and alive with discovery. Every day, campers step into a world designed just for them: a place where they can create, explore, make friends, and try something new with the support of counselors who cheer them on at every turn.
From messy art projects to high-energy sports, no two days at Camp Shelanu look the same. One afternoon, campers might be creating their own custom Camp Shelanu coloring book; the next, they’re diving hands-first into slime-filled science experiments or learning about inclusion and teamwork through a raucous game of cooperative musical chairs.
Add in STEAM challenges, nature adventures, and leadership moments, and summer quickly fills with stories campers can’t wait to tell at home. And because summer isn’t summer without the pool, every camper swims daily, with swim lessons included in tuition for those who need them.
What truly shapes the Camp Shelanu experience is our commitment to belonging. As a National Inclusion Project–accredited camp, we’re intentional about ensuring every child feels welcomed, celebrated, and able to participate fully. Our specialty camp options give campers room to follow their interests, while our inclusive culture makes space for each camper’s unique strengths.
Rooted in Jewish values like kindness, giving, welcoming newcomers, and repairing the world (tikkun olam), Camp Shelanu offers opportunities to explore Jewish culture and traditions without any religious instruction. We joyfully welcome campers of all backgrounds, faiths, identities, and family structures — and our diverse community is one of the things families love most about us.
It’s no wonder Camp Shelanu has become one of the Triangle’s most beloved camps, earning multiple recognitions along the way, including previous INDY Week Best Summer Day Camp honors. But the real measure of our success? The way campers can’t stop talking about their day — and can’t wait to come back tomorrow.
Dive in and discover why Camp Shelanu is a summer home for so many families.
